Education is critical. In the long tradition of pursuit, my family immigrated to the United States from Mexico.
The American education system, broken as it may be, is free. Gaining access to knowledge was always a promise of escaping poverty to me. I was able to navigate the system with help of public resources like afterschool programs and being accepted to a place I call “Math Camp!””
If I were to say that I did it all by myself, I would be lying.
My success comes from those who surround me; my community empowered me to chase my goals. I am a beneficiary of help from dozens of educators, program managers, councilors, and others who were not paid enough. All the state resources and programs that helped make me were staffed by deeply caring people. Day in and day out, people toiled to help me and many others so we may have a better chance at life. They all deserve Thank You’s, and Infinite gratitutde. Without their help, I wouoldn’t have made it.
And my part in helping those to Come.
During College, my side jobs were all science tutoring. I found so much meaning in it.
I spent the first half of my 20s chasing a masters in Materials Science, hoping to one day be an engineer. After some years paying off the degrees and soul searching, I stopped the engineering work, and decided it was my turn to serve as I had been served.
As a chemistry professor, I have made it my mantra to always challenge myself to improve how I teach those who need me, and to make positive systemic change where I can.
The greatest cause I fight for is making education as free as possible. I use free textbooks for my courses, and make all of my material free to those who need it.

The summer of 2025, in a fit of unemployment, I made slide decks for multiple chemistry courses, which teach subjects suitable from Fundamental Chemistry to Chem I.
I built this course using a freely existing book by Mark Bishop, called An Introduction to Chemistry, Atoms First. This book is amazing, and I have to honor him for his work. If you ever see this, Mr. Bishop, Thank you!
To continue in his tradition, I want to share my own work, the slides I made in 2025. Those slides have custom animations and art from me, Along with homework and assignments you can use to either build a course, or learn chemistry for free!
